Meet the band

Lachlan Smith - Trombone

Since completing his Bachelor of Music at Monash University in 2021, Lachlan has racked up an impressive list of performances in the spheres of jazz and Salsa, playing with big names such as Vince Jones, Mat Jodrell, Jordan Murray, Willy Garcia and Maelo Ruiz.

Dedicated to continual improvement, Lachlan is a highly skilled player with a big heart and a great sense of humour.

During the week, he divides his time between teaching and gigging, notably as lead trombone in Tumbao Social, one of the prominent salsa bands featured at the Night Cat in Fitzroy.

Anton Schulz - Double Bass

A graduate of James Morrison Academy in South Australia, Anton is a formidable double bass player dedicated to his craft. He has played with local jazz heavyweights such as Michelle Nicole and Carl Mackie, most notably in a spectacular concert at St Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne late last year.

The musical backbone of the band, Anton has a innovative and playful approach to supporting the harmonic development of each tune.

His friendly and creative personality comes through in his playing, supported by years of musical development and a high level of skill.
